Crashing Lights
I’ve been driving all evening
For over eleven hours
I’ve been feeling so lonesome
And now I’m going home
Oh I’m getting so tired
I should stop someplace and rest my eyes
Oh but I’m getting so close now
I’m almost home
Then crashing lights and broken glass
Are scattered all around me in a dizzy haze
As the blood streaks down my windshield
Like a meteor shower and I just stare amazed
All the memories go flashing by
I’m in and out of consciousness, I start to fade
As I bargain for my soul
I wonder if I can undo the deal that I just made
I just want to go home
All the stars are shining brightly
So strange to see in the winter daytime skyline
I’m saddened to discover that I was mistaken…
It’s just the glass in my eyes
And now the siren’s getting louder
I hope that they can save me just in time
Although I find I’m growing ever more fearful
That I’m not going home
I don’t want to die alone
